Around six months, your baby's iron stores from birth start running low just as their energy needs climb. Breast milk or formula is still the main food, but it now needs a partner — and a well-made infant cereal is one of the easiest first foods to get right.
Why cereal first?
Fortified infant cereals deliver iron, zinc and B-vitamins in a smooth texture that is easy to swallow and digest. Milk-based cereals such as Alcelac Wheat Apple also add protein and calcium, so every spoon counts.
Getting started
- Begin with one or two spoons once a day, mixed to a thin consistency.
- Gradually thicken the texture and increase the quantity as your baby shows interest.
- Introduce one new food at a time and watch for any reaction.
Always follow the preparation instructions on the pack and speak to your paediatrician about when your baby is ready for solids.
